Information

Gemma is a freelance photographer specialising in social documentary / reportage. She is an enthusiastic storyteller, and a firm believer in the power of photography to inform and inspire, and to influence change.

Gemma initially studied Geography at the University of Sheffield in the UK, developing interests in people, places, and visual representation, while taking a night class in black and white photography. She soon decided to continue with photography after graduating.

She has two years experience of living and working in China and can speak conversational Mandarin. During 2007 she completed an MA in International Photojournalism and Documentary Photography in Dalian, NE China.

Since summer 2009 Gemma has been based in Sheffield, UK. She works for a variety of clients and on commission, and facilitates photo workshops for young people.
